20 Minute Halves running time. Stop time last two minutes of the game if point spread is fifteen points or less.
3 timeouts (60 seconds) and one 30 second timeout per game.
3 minute intermission between halves.
Two (2) minute stop time extra period to be played after a one minute intermission if the game ends in a tie.
If tie is not broken after one extra period, there will be Sudden Death Overtime. First team to score wins. One time out per team allowed during sudden death overtime play. Unused time outs during regular play will not carry over to sudden death play.
A player, coach or assistant coach may call a time out if the team has possession.
Game Procedure
Home team shall be listed on the right side of the game schedule.
Visiting team shall be listed on the left side of the game schedule.
Teams will have a light colored uniform and a dark colored uniform with numbers visible on the back and on the front of the uniform.
Undergarments must be of the same color as the uniform, if worn.
All players will remove any jewelry prior to the start of the game (earrings, necklaces, rings, etc.) Players may not have long fingernails if participating.
Players with long hair shall tie their hair back to make the uniform number(s) visible.
Officials shall handle the ball on every out of bounds, except when a goal has been made.
Each player must play the minimum of 5 consecutive minutes per half. Failure to comply will result in forfeiture of the game. It is the responsibility of the Coach to make sure the playing time requirements are met.
If a player arrives late for the game and is not able to play 5 consecutive minutes during of the first half, the player may participate in the second half without penalty provided the player meets the 5 consecutive minute playing time requirement during the second half.
If the player is injured during pre-game practice or the game, the player may be withdrawn without penalty.
Five (5) fouls eliminates a player from the game.
28 ½ size basketball shall be used for grades 3rd through 6th grade.
27 size basketballs will be used for Kindergarten through second grade.
Alternating out of bounds procedure will apply on all jump ball situations, except at the beginning of the game and each extra period.
Team rostered players shall only be permitted to sit on the bench.
Only one coach will remain standing if the coach chooses. Assistant Coach’s shall remain seated during the contest. A technical foul may assessed at the dis discretion of the Official(s) if more than one coach remains standing during the contest. Any one standing or seated on the bench will be considered part of the team. A technical foul for any verbal outbursts at the discretion of the official(s).
Three point shots will be allowed if the court has a permanent three point shot line.
It is a violation for the offensive team with initial possession of the ball to remain in their backcourt for more than ten (10) seconds after they have gained possession of the ball.
Referee’s ten (10) second count in the back court will continue after a time out by the offensive team from the point of play was stopped. (Example - If a time out was called when the Referee’s count was at five, then the count would begin from five once the ball is inbound back in play).
Fouls; Common fouls are shot beginning with the seventh (7th) team foul. Fouls in the act of shooting are shot at any time. Any non-player controlled foul by the team in possession of the ball is termed a Team Control foul and no free throw is awarded.
Double bonus is on the 10th team foul. Player will shoot two free throws.
Players cannot cross into the lane on free throws until the ball has hit the backboard or rim.
K to 4th grades; the defensive team cannot touch the ball until it crosses the vertical plane of the midcourt line (on a controlled dribble or pass).
K to 2nd grade; Free throw will be shot from the bottom dotted circle in front of the free throw line. Shooter may cross the line as part of the follow through.
3rd grade; free throw line will be shot from the bottom dotted circle in the front of the free throw line. Shooter may not cross the line until ball touches the rim.
4th to 5th grade; free throw will be shot from regulation free throw line. Shooter may cross the line as part of the follow through.
6th grades; Free throw will be shot from regulation free throw line. Shooter may not cross the line until ball touches rim.
If the official believes the player obtained an advantage after the free throw shot and is able to get a better rebounding position this action shall be considered a violation and the ball be will taken out of bounds by the opponent.
No point is scored on a free throw violation. The ball is taken out of bounds by the opponent at the free throw line extended.
If an official observes a player that displays a health and safety concern the player may be asked to be removed from the game.
There will be no smoking on facility grounds, profanity, possession of, sales of or use of any alcohol or illegal controlled substance, unsportsmanlike conduct, quarreling, fighting, betting or other forms of gambling or other unseemly conduct. This applies to spectators, players and others connected with the activity.
No street shoes shall be permitted on the gym floor when participating in the game. Rubber soled shoes are allowed in the gym.
All spectators must be seated in the designated areas during the game. If no seating is available the spectator can stand in the designated area during the game.
Any violation of tournament rules shall be reviewed by the Tournament Committee for further review that may include disciplinary action.
